MERRY CHRISTMAS
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM BTRNC

If you are fortunate enough to be blessed with an animal or two or three, you get the idea, take a moment this holiday season and reflect on how much joy they bring you each day throughout the year. And the extra magic and love they add to this season. The Boastful Boston is spending her first Christmas with Riley! Despite the absence of a tree - why bother putting it up when Riley puppy is just going to take it back down one way or another, he makes me laugh every day and reminds me of the joy of this season.

Remember that tinsel, turkey bones and chocolate are not good for dogs! Make a quiet place available for your fur baby to rest and escape from the commotion. Stress can be harmful for older dogs. Don't let your dog drink the water from the Christmas tree if you have added anything to prolong the life of the tree, be wary of snow globes, they could contain anti-freeze which is highly toxic. Keep poinsettias out of reach of both cats and dogs and most of all - enjoy every minute.
Here are some Christmas shots of our adopted and foster babies:

PUGGLES
The Boastful Boston has been waiting to do this blog on our new boy Kevin, who was renamed Puggles by his wonderful forever family. I don't normally do blogs without pictures, but I didn't' want to wait any longer to celebrate this special boy.
Kevin was between 6-8 years old when he arrived in foster care from a shelter. His back right foot was only partially developed and he had a previous eye injury. He walks with a hop but is still able to jump on bar stools to see the world from a better vantage point. He has a floppy ear but an adorable face.
His new family had sadly lost their senior boston and knew that they wanted to rescue another boston. All dog owners know that one dog never replaces another and that everyone is different in the grieving process. Some people can't endure one night of the silence that can fall over a house once occupied by a four legged family member. Others wait a long time before they are ready to open their hearts again and still others don't make the decision, they just literally walk into a new pet one day. Puggles' family had an empty place and they wanted to help a fur baby who needed a place of their own. His foster Mom fell in love with him from our posting on the available dogs page.
Here are some of the things his new family has to say:
He is just so precious and we are so blessed to have him! It's like we've had him since he was a pup. When I saw Kevin's photo at BTRNC I fell in love with him at first sight. He was our first choice. Thanks to BTRNC he is curled up beside me right now just snoozing away. Puggles has helped us so much in grieving the loss of Winnie and has added so much to our lives already. Rescuing him has been awesome! As I type this, Puggles is sitting in my lap with his chin resting beside the keyboard. :-) We have really bonded. He stays right by me 24/7 and I LOVE IT! He has just fit right in - in every way. His personality is blossoming and he gets funnier every day. For instance, he likes to sit on the sofa or chair. But not in the seat, on the top of the back cushion. It is hilarious!!!!!!!!! I want him to be able to enjoy the last 1/2 of his little life - he SO deserves it. Whatever he needs to have done we'll do it. He is our angel dog from heaven. We are SO glad we adopted him. Thank you so much for trusting us and giving us this precious little guy.
Just another example that defects and floppy ears are no match for the love and bond between a fur baby and their forever family. We are so happy that Puggles and his family found each other.

A LETTER FROM BAILEY!
My name is Bailey. Don't tell my foster mom that I am writing. She doesn't know that I can type and I have to sneak on the computer when she is not looking.

I have lived with my foster family now for about 2 months now. This is such a cool place. I live with 3 foster sisters. Two are Bostons like me and the other one is a shaggy terrier. My mom says she is a Cairn terrier. She just looks hairy to me! I like her best. They have 2 animals mom calls "cats" too! WoW! I really like those things. they look REALLY weird to me. We sniff each other and sometimes I forget myself and chase them a little but I never try to hurt them. Sometimes my foster mom or dad fusses at me when I get to excited and I always leave them alone (at least for a little while)

When I came to live here I thought I had gone to heaven. I had been in a fight with a big dog. I had a big sore where my tail used to be. But my foster dad and mom doctored it everyday and it got all better. Now I just have a funny looking back end.

I was also under weight. My mom thought I looked like someone called "Twiggy". Who ever that is. Mom says that she was a model in the 70's who started that whole "it looks great to be too skinny" thing. I have managed to put on a little weight since I have been here. Now you can't see my whole rib cage. Mom things I look wonderful!

I also have a little problem with keeping my food down. Mom says that if I would learn to eat slower it would help. Also, if I could get 3 or 4 small meals instead of one or two larger meals that would help. Sometimes I forget that I don't have to be afraid any more. There will always be someone to feed me and love me from now on.

I have to go now. I think I hear mom coming. I'll write more when I can sneak onto the computer again. Until then... Don't forget to Paws to tell someone you love them.

Bailey
