BEST FRIENDS FOREVER
Home visits are a necessary part of our adoption process. Our volunteers are not out to do a white glove dust test or judge your taste in home decor. Like everything else we do, it is all about the dog! The rest of the application process is usually completed electronically. The home visit is the only opportunity to actually meet you in person. Often, our volunteers drive long distances to complete these visits.
The Boastful Boston herself had the opportunity to do the home visit for who was to be Beau's forever home. Already in the home was another dog who was to be Beau's new sibling. We all have a vested interest in the success of all our foster babies who are adopted. The volunteer who does the home visit often feels an extra responsibility for how everything turns out. After all, the home visit volunteer passes their recommendation on to our adoption coordinator, and she relies on our findings and impressions during the visit.
Beau and his new family waited a long time to be united. Geographic distance and holiday travel plans delayed Beau's arrival until the week after Thanksgiving. Weekly, I would inquire as to whether we had an update?
Well today, I got my wish, not in the form of an essay but in one photo, just one, but that one photo tells the story. Most of us have heard the expression, "a picture paints a thousand words". This photo definitely proves the point.
The Boastful Boston hopes you agree.
