TAKE A CHANCE ON ME?!

I have known quite a few dogs in and out of BTRNC named Chance. One thing they all have in common is that they are all rescue dogs and their most owners tell you they named their dog Chance because they decided to take a chance on him. The best part is that these owners are glad they took that chance and their dogs named Chance are living the good life with their new family.

The Chance that is currently on our available dogs page will pull at your heart strings as his story is particularly sad. In case you come here first instead of the dogs page, Chance's owner died very unexpectedly and he was left in the house to fend for himself surviving on the water in the toilet bowl. Imagine how hungry he must have been, how confused and scared about why his owner couldn't care for him and how weak he must have been when he was rescued.

He is a very handsome little boy and he is so young and has so much life yet to live. Isn't it amazing that instead of shunning people as some dogs left in isolation have done, he is beyond excited at every new person he meets. He thrives on touch and love and really wants to learn how to play with other dogs. The spirit that helped him survive will also help him to over come his fears and help him to learn to play with other dogs. Maybe one day he will be secure enough to know that things that go bump in the night or boom in the sky do not mean that he will be hurt. He is learning to trust again. You can see it in his eyes in the pictures. He wants to be happy, wants to be loved and wants his second chance.

He will require extra care and more patience than some dogs. He may never completely loose his fear but he may get better. Now Chance needs someone to take a chance on him. Maybe you will be the one that is glad you took a chance on Chance!

Chance feels secure with his bear. We hope that someday soon he will have a lot more reasons to feel secure.
