The Boastful Boston Stopping By To Say

- HAVE A HAPPY HALLOWEEN DAY!

Happy Halloween from BTRNC. We hope you have fun and get lots of treats and no tricks! Remember that masks can scare our furry family members and that chocolate of any type is not o.k. any time - even on Halloween. And if you dress up your fur babies for the holiday, avoid elastic bands, constricting clothing and anything on their face. Follow these simple tips, and you will avoid some ghoulish behavior from your four legged friends!

This strawberry doesn't need any sugar or cream - she's sweet already!

Pauley is always ready to put out a fire!

BRUTUS TURNS FOUR

This handsome fellow is Brutus, adopted from BTRNC in 2005. He just celebrated his 4th birthday with his new family. Rescue dogs somehow understand that they have been given a second chance. Whether they were owner surrenders from good homes where they could no longer stay, former puppy mill breeding dogs who have never known a bed or toys, or rescued off the street with an unknown past but with the scars of their time on the road, they all share the knowledge that once they were rescued. They are full of love and gratitude both for their rescuers and the families that adopt them.

Brutus now has his own bed!

His own clothes!!!

and even a piano - maybe a budding canine musician has been found!

Brutus' forever Mom report that he climbs everything and jumps very high. An electric fence was the ticket to make sure that Brutus never gets lost. Brutus also brings joy everyday and always provides a reason to smile, even on gloomy days!

Brutus says you don't have to send him birthday presents - he has everything he could ever want!

Happy Birthday Brutus - and many more!

BOSCO PASSES THROUGH

BTRNC tries hard to match prospective families with a boston in our foster program who we believe matches the family's lifestyle, energy level, environment, and other factors. Sometimes a reader falls in love with a picture or a description on our website but further information reveals that the dog that first captured their eye is not a good match. Our foster families expose our dogs to as as many situations as possible, including children and cats. The cutest boston face in the world will loose it's appeal in a house with cats if that face belongs to a cat chaser.

For these reasons, we sometimes have approved families waiting for just the right boston to enter our rescue program. Such was the case with Bosco. Members and visitors saw only a penciled sketch of a boston representing Bosco on the available dogs page for only a few days. Next was the red adoption pending above his name and still a penciled sketch.

Bosco met those who would become his forever family and it was love at first sight. Can you blame them?

Bosco now enjoys another boston, adults and children in his new home. He even got to be an honored guest at the youngest member of his family's preschool. Oh how he loved the attention from all those small hands and smiling faces! Bosco was a perfect gentleman for the children.

Bosco was lucky, someone was waiting for him. Maybe the next boston to enter our rescue is just who you have been waiting for!

Meet Cindy - She Loves People

Cindy was surrendered by her original owners when they were moving and could no longer care for her. She has settled into her new foster home and loves to be close to people a much as possible. Even when her foster mom took her to the vet's office, she was so happy to be there with a parade of new people coming in the door. She was sure they had all come to see her and would run over to greet them and get petted.

Cindy is a snorter and a couple of her foster siblings weren't sure what to make of this plump, snorty gal. They are warming up to her now and giving her secret kisses when they think no one is looking. In Cindy's new extended family, there is another Boston Terrier. His name is Pete and he is blind with fear and aggression issues surrounding unfamiliar dogs. Luckily, Cindy is great at meeting new dogs! She ignored Pete and allowed him to sniff her from ear to tail. Since that encounter Pete has fallen madly in love and likes to follow her around the house.

Cindy loves to go for a car ride. When her foster mom takes her out for walks and she sees the car in the driveway, she'll turn on her "bulldog 4 wheel drive" and try to drag her over to the door of the car so they can go somewhere. Her foster mom has to keep a towel in the seat though because Cindy's tongue is always hanging out and when she falls asleep she tends to drool a bit. Won't you consider giving this happy girl a home? Check out our available dogs for more information. Or consider being a sponsor.

A PURPOSEFUL LIFE

Barney Fife was adopted in 2004 by one of our BTRNC volunteers. Barney loved his new Mom and family and was so happy to be forever home. But when Barney met his new Grandpa who lived in another house, he knew that everything in his life, being homeless, rescued, and adopted all was meant to lead up to meeting this wonderful human person. It was love at first sight for Barney and Grandpa. Barney heard other humans talk about Grandpa having something called dementia, but all Barney saw was the kindest man he had ever met.

Barney made it clear that while he hoped he would always be grateful to the nice lady who adopted him, and hoped she would always be in his life, he belonged with Grandpa. And Barney got his way. Forever Mom became forever Sis, Grandma became forever Mom and Grandpa became forever Dad!

Two years later, Barney is basking in the love of all his new family and his favorite part is spending time with Dad! Sis says that Barney is a good therapy dog. Barney figures that if getting constant love, food, medical care and kisses means he is a therapy dog, then he is all for it!

Barney found his purpose and sends his prayers and wishes that other rescue dogs find theirs!
